The light beckons as I trod wearily toward it
a beacon of hope at the end of a long road,
a road that seems endless
since I am laden
heavily
with worries and heartbreak.
In the distance, I see someone.
Perhaps it is a stranger who will offer
an outstretched hand,
an unbidden kindness.
Or could it be you,
returning to me?
What does the light hold?
I continue walking and expect
to somehow find my way,
since all roads lead to an outcome,
desired or not.
I reach the light,
step into it,
and scatter to the wind.
