October 1, 2020 at 6pm EST on ZOOM

We are looking forward to tomorrow night! We will be kicking off this celebratory month with Michelle Sylliboy, a Mi’kmaq/L’nu artist/author – reading poems from her collection of photography and L’nuk hieroglyphic poetry, Kiskajeyi—I Am Ready

Registration is now closed.

The attendee living the farthest from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia will get a free, signed copy of Michelle’s book Kiskajeyi—I Am Ready . The winner of the book will be announced at the end of the event.

Near the end of the Open Mic, we will have time for Q&A.

October 1, is “Treaty Day” and marks the beginning of  Mi’kmaq History Month in Nova Scotia, as proclaimed in 1993 by then Premier John Savage and Mi’kmaq Grand Chief Donald Marshall. The purpose of Treaty Day is to promote public awareness about the Mi’kmaw culture and heritage for all Nova Scotians.
