Every morning while we lie in bed
before a day of unfinished sentences
and clients keeping us long on the phone
just 20 minutes away, the apricot sun
hits the horizon, spilling its color
over the wide blue sea
what once is black, is a reflection
of something else entirely
then back to blue again
a glimpse, however brief,
of who we are becoming
