Wild Proposition
With this October snow,
the robin on the post
outside my window
glances at my
evening cocktail,
not impressed,
she eyes the pale
worm at the bottom
of the bottle,
she’s fluffs up her
chest, considers
my lime: neatly
chilled, she’s out
of my league clearly,
this I know,
she twitches her tail,
twinkles her eye:
good worms
aren’t found
in good bottles,
and off she flies
through the early
indifferent sleet.
