A clear sky at night

The light empties into the sea

whose shore is the horizon.

In the darkening valley, silhouettes of steeples,

thousands of steeples.


The murmuring voices of the congregations.

Richard Lebovitz is a former educator and editor living in Atlanta. He is currently involved in rescuing native plants and helping restore wildlife habitats. His small backyard is a National Wildlife Federation (NWF) Certified Wildlife Habitat, Georgia Native Plant Society (GNPS) Certified Native Plant Habitat and Georgia Audubon Certified Wildlife Sanctuary.
