In a Field of Daisies

white daisy flower
After days of summer sun
and rain, her neighbor’s fallow
pasture fills with field daisies.

The bouquet that grows
in her hands is a gift
for the owner’s son;

he’s her age, without sight.
She practices aloud, words
to describe a single flower.
