The Rhythm of the Ocean

close up photo of body of water

 Under the blue hypnotic waves,
The sea bed lies and the ocean sways.
Dancing to its hypnotic beat,
Crashing into the smooth concrete.

Licking and lapping the vacant shore,
Water thirsting for something more.
Tugging and pulling, trying to reach,
The last grain of the sandy beach.

Gently Whispering in its foamy ear,
The wind cries out a muffled cheer.
Underneath the setting sun,
The sweeping tide has begun.

Swallowing the rocks and land,
Further then it has ever been.
Then all at once the tide recedes,
Its eagerness gone, its thirst, its need.

Drawn to another empty shore,
So, it can begin its dance once more.

When I had a Political resource brief published in the mid 1990’s, writing poetry was the furthest thing from my mind. But more recent, thoughts that have kept colliding into each other, have somehow become something more than incoherent ramblings. Poetry to me has become an outlet for those thoughts. I find my poems in pictures, sunsets, and in nature. Life is all about perspective. I enjoy motivating and inspiring those around me…giving new perspective to some… most surprisingly of all to myself.
