Dive into the white rush
of uncertain currents,
abandon deliberate itineraries,
give ourselves over
to gold sunrise, whirling spindrift,
refreshed sands, unfamiliar trails,
new year’s siren song.
Let the undertow take us
wherever it chooses.
Drag us over the brink,
far beyond familiar landfall,
past what we have known,
to deposit us, shaken and surprised
on an alien shore.
