The sun in a brilliant sky caps
rippled waves in gold.
The allure of the lake moved
my feet from rock to water.
The sun continued its gild
on needles of grand and gracious
evergreens that frame the shore.
I want to smell evergreen everyday,
have gilded hands and hair.
I want birds—to seek my solitude,
take respite close to my core,
linger with songs that I store
deep in my roots.
Let this lake be my re-birth place—
let gold capped ripples reflect my image
across water that carries me away
and home.
