Water

close up photography of body of water
Birther, Destroyer
It flows in my blood
Immortal artist eating
Through stone with
Chisel teeth

Leaving sharp fingerprints
On the rough brown breasts
Of the earth

There is nothing I
Love more than water
Nothing I fear more

Even the shallows
Betray me, hiding
The shark’s maw
And crocodile’s
Grin

Breaking water gave
Me breath. Rising water
Stole it

Birther. Destroyer.
Mother drowns her children
Who were born without fins
