As I walk the path of life,
I never know what I may see.
A deer leaping gracefully through the pines,
A red fox scampering merrily across the road.
Or, an angry bobcat,
Ready to pounce from the limbs of a dead oak.
Stygian vultures flying overhead,
Shadowing me from the light.
Some days, the wind whispers at me,
Lovingly through the trees,
The sweet smell of life,
Summer sun warming my face
Other days my tears
Flowed downward,
Like waterfalls
Crashing on the rocks below.
Some days I reached
The summit
Of the mountain,
The world spread out before me.
Other days, the journey is arduous,
Each step a burden,
Deep, dark rain
Pouring down, drowning my soul.
As I near the end of my path
I know.
Every stepping stone
Had a purpose.
Like pebbles in the creeks
I crossed
The water honed me,
Shaped me.
Every fallen tree
Blocking my path
Led me to a
Better possibility.
Truly embrace
and experience
the moments that
form the path of life.
