Mindfulness would’ve been
just another road
I feared.
But I bowed, like molasses,
to grass
that gives green its color,
to buttercups so golden
they light the jeweler’s loupe
of breath
and my eyes—
evanescent and eager
for more,
proof
that it was worth it,
arriving.
