The ocean at night, the wild horse who
found her way. This morning I remember
being enamored by powder-blue
water in pictures; I remember
another horse, dark like a velvet
flower, galloping through
air that shimmered gold; and then
memory becomes less interesting
somehow, and there’s an image
of you, holding my hand right now,
moving into tomorrows, pulling roots
from the ground, resting in the grass
in the morning, something inside
of us forming, like a praise song
but different—the thing that is loved
within us, within you—
I see it in you.
