I always knew you
Tucked away in a corner of my world
A flash of black and white
Curved silhouette before you dove
Always there
But in the shadows, too
Slipping back and forth across the line
of knowing
and unknowing
I look for you now
Among the shallow waves
Binoculars trained on ripples in the water
I turn around as you swim towards me
I have found you , I think
But in the same moment
Who have I turned away from?
