FORGIVENESS?

bird flying over trees during foggy weather

A rodent’s morality.
The heart?
Symbol of mortality—
Open to the canyon
When the clouds pour in
Carrying the chortles
Of ravens.

The birds, themselves,
Disappear, as usual,
Into the nothingness
Of the storm.

The wise juncos hide
In chamisa; spiders creep
Into the depths of juniper bark.

It rains, in waves-
The water speaks, then
Departs with wind.

Forgiveness?
There is nothing
The world will not forgive.
